What page-builder WordPress sites are
Page builders let you drag and drop sections onto a page using a visual editor, usually starting from a pre-made template.
- Pros: Faster and cheaper to set up, easier for non-technical people to make small edits themselves.
- Cons: Extra plugin code loads on every page (even features you don’t use), which slows the site down. Designs often look like the template they came from. More plugins also means more potential security and update issues over time.
What hand-coded WordPress means
A custom-coded WordPress theme is built from scratch around your design — no page-builder plugin running underneath.
- Pros: Faster load times since there’s no builder overhead, a design that’s actually unique to your brand, and a leaner codebase that’s easier to keep secure long-term.
- Cons: Takes a bit longer to build up front, and structural changes later need a developer — though with the content set up properly, you can still edit your own text, images and pricing yourself.
